This brief PowerPoint presentation shares the purpose/role of assessment—to gather evidence of learning. Many different types of evidence of learning are collected. These are all considered forms of assessment. Different audiences (teacher, student, parent, district, state, nation) have different needs for information about learning. Quality assessment probes for depth in the full range of learning. Quality teachers use evidence of learning to inform what they teach and how they teach.
