What is Quality Assessment?

Quality assessments are valid, reliable, and fair. This means that they should authentically and accurately assess what has been learned, be able to do so reliably, and ensure fair accessibility to all student populations being assessed.. Quality assessment needs to be both continuous over time and implemented in a timely fashion in order to to allow results to inform students, teachers, parents, and administrators, to find out how well students are acquiring knowledge, and to help improve instruction.

At its best in the classroom, quality assessment is indistinguishable from good teaching.
